  • Winter alloy wheels and tyres

    7°C is the point at which you should switch over to winter tyres. Met office statistics from October to March typically showed the average temperature throughout the UK was below 7°C. At these temperatures the rubber compound and tread of the winter tyres are developed specifically to grip better and stop quicker than summer tyres. Winter tyres are designed to provide improved traction in slippery conditions, as a result they are less prone to wheel spin and slip which can cause more excessive tyre wear. This also has a positive impact on fuel economy as more tractive effort is used for driving and not wasted on revving or wheel spinning.
