Overview
The flagship of the Volkswagen range, the Phaeton is the marque’s first large luxury saloon and sits alongside the Touareg off-road vehicle as part of the brand’s representation in the luxury class. The Phaeton is available with a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine: a 4.2-litre V8 with 335 PS; a 6.0-litre W12 with 450 PS; and a 3.0-litre V6 TDI with 233 PS. Uniquely in this class, all models feature 4MOTION four-wheel drive. The V6 TDI is available with either standard or long wheelbase (LWB) and the V8 and W12 are available with long wheelbase only. The longer versions have an additional 120 mm of wheelbase, which translates directly into extra rear legroom. The level of standard equipment on the Phaeton is highly comprehensive. Around 60 out of a network of 250 Volkswagen Retailers sell the Phaeton, each with their own Luxury Car Manager, specialised workshop equipment and licensed Luxury Car Technician.
